A 22 hour self paced online course entitled “Data Science,Visualization and Statistics for Machine Learning” was developed by Prof. Ramya R B and Prof. Merlin Priya and is available on Apsit Skills LMS from 09.07.2021 as part of APSITSkills Internship programme.The course focuses on Python packages ,exploring different types of data, preparing data for analysis, performing simple statistical analyses, creating meaningful data visualizations, predicting future trends from data, and more.87 participants are currently enrolled in the course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students can,

1. Understand the fundamental concepts of data science.
2. Learn the fundamentals of some of the most widely used Python packages; including NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib and Scipy and then apply them to Data Analysis and Data Visualization projects.
3. Choose appropriately from a wider range of statistical and inferential methods for analyzing data, and can interpret the results contextually to support or refute a hypothesis.
4. Perform basic data cleaning, and can transform variables to facilitate analysis on a dataset with both categorical and quantitative variables.
5. Apply Linear Regression modeling, measure fit and performance of the model and data analysis to find the solution of small real-world problems, communicate findings, and effectively present results using data visualization techniques.
